Connecting Seniors to services that improve their lives.
Helping make the Crosslake area "home for a lifetime"!
The 2021 Power of Aging SENIOR EXPO 2021, held on Saturday, September 25, was a great success with almost 400 people in attendance. Attendees enjoyed visiting the 58 Exhibitors and Supports, along with our Churches' chili tasting competion. Our Keynote Speaker was Paul Douglas, Meteorologist and business owner and his talk "Life is Like the Weather" was highly entertaining and well received! We held 6 excellent "TED" talks to entertain and inform those in attendance and we provided over 45 COVID-19 vaccinations thanks to the MN Department of Health! The EXPO ended with 8 awesome prize giveaways.
We look forward to seeing you at our next EXPO in the Spring of 2022 so stay tuned for further details.
As the baby boomer generation enters the golden years, Minnesotan’s are living longer and healthier lives. In fact, life expectancy has increased to age 81. Crosslake, MN is home to a population of more than 2,200 and 40% of us are 65 and over (62% are 55 and over). (Source)
A group of community leaders began meeting to discuss this topic and asked how do we work together to best support this growing segment of our population. A vision was created to enhance, develop and promote opportunities for seniors in the greater Crosslake area.
The group created Crosslake Area Senior Services, Inc, doing business as CROSSLAKE CARES, and is now an operating 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the goal of improving the lives of our seniors so they can make the Crosslake area "home for a lifetime".
