Mark your calendars for next year, the last weekend of April 2025! On the weekend of April 27th we hosted our third annual Senior Days and fifth annual Senior Expo, which were major successes for the seniors and organizations in the Crosslake area. Many events took place all around Crosslake from Senior Prom to pickleball, 3K walk to informative presentations, great restaurant, retail and golf discounts, to a fun night at the train museum. Our fifth annual Senior Expo was held at The Log Church in Crosslake, which was attended by hundreds of people, and we hosted over 50 exhibitors. We heard great information in our mini-talks from area experts and enjoyed free coffee and pastries all morning long. The keynote address at the Expo was given by Joe Schmit, sportscaster and author, who presented on Silent Impact. You can watch his very inspirational address here, where he reminds us we are never too old to make a profound and important impact on those around us, even when we may not realize we are doing so.
We want to thank Cuyuna Regional Medical Center for their Platinum status sponsorship of the Senior Expo.
Crosslake Cares hosted our second annual Senior Days & Expo Weekend, which was a major success for the organizations and seniors in the Crosslake area. The weekend started on Friday, April 28 with educational Senior Presentations. The first on SeniorTechnology and cyber security presented by Tremolo Communications and our second presentation on Senior Travel opportunities presented by Pamela Vaughan. We ended day one with Senior Night at the Train Museum where guests enjoyed tours of the intricate model trains at the Northern Minnesota Railroad Heritage Association with snacks provided by Patriot Lakes Nutrition. April 29 started with a Senior 3K Walk where our areas’ avid walkers joined to walk around Crosslake. Following the 3K walk, walkers, exhibitors, mini talk speakers and visitors from our area joined us at our fourth Senior Expo. We had nearly 60 exhibitors/sponsors DON SHELBY, former TV Anchor performing his famous and hilarious rendition of the Adventures of Tom Sawyer novelist, journalist, lecturer and humorist, Mark Twain. (Click here to watch.) Don’s performance left each person with a smile on their face and laughter in their heart. The night ended with a Senior Prom, dinner and dancing with a A Night in Paris theme.
A fun weekend was had by our area Seniors as Crosslake Cares presented our first ever SENIOR DAYS, which incorporated our third SENIOR EXPO with events taking place throughout the weekend of April 30, 2022. Most of our events were free or had discounted rates offered.
Kicking off the weekend we had two Senior PRESENTATIONS on Friday, April 29. One on technology presented by Crosslake Communications, and the on travel, both held at Crosslake Lutheran Church. Throughout the weekend area restaurants offered Senior RESTAURANT DEALS. On Saturday, April 30 the day began with a Senior 3K WALK. Then the Senior EXPO followed that morning which was well attended with over 400 people enjoying the morning. This year’s Expo included prizes and giveaways, free coffee and pastries, and informative mini talks along with lots of exhibitors proving valuable information. Our keynote speaker was former news anchor Don Shelby who gave a very inspirational talk. In the afternoon we got to learn all about Senior PICKLE BALL, followed in the evening with a fun and glamorous time at the Senior PROM held at Manhattan Beach Lodge, which included a 3-course dinner and dancing. Thank you to all our sponsors and exhibitors, volunteers, event organizers, area restaurants and pastry providers for making this a fun weekend for all our area Seniors! Crosslake Cares was delighted to be part of Crosslake Days in 2021! In particular, we were pleased to host the second POWER OF AGING SENIOR EXPO which was held at The Log Church on Saturday, September 25, 2021. A new record was set with 54 exhibitors and sponsors. We are very appreciative of the support these patrons provided, particularly during the difficult times of Covid. We would like to extend a special thank you to Whitefish at the Lakes Senior Living, our platinum sponsor. 389 registration and senior survey forms were distributed during the Expo. We had six wonderful guest speakers supported by an excellent MC. Everyone enjoyed the churches' chili contest, and thanks to the Minnesota Dept. of Health there were 45 seniors who received their Covid-19 vaccinations. Paul Douglas, meteorologist and area business man, wrapped up the Expo with his delightful narrative "Life is like the weather"! Click here to watch the mini talk and keynote speakers.
The first POWER OF AGING SENIOR EXPO presented by Crosslake Cares was held on April 27, 2019. Mark Rosen of WCCO was the Key Note Speaker. The Expo was a huge success with over 500 people attend, 37 exhibitors and 14 area restaurants provided free food! We had four great mini talks from the National Loon Center, The AARP, Crosslake Commuity School, and "Gertrude the Pharmacist" trying to make sense of prescription drugs. A big thank you to our platinum sponsor, Essentia Health.
