Chris Egert is an award-winning journalist, speaker, and one of the longest-tenured news anchors in the Twin Cities. Over a 30-plus-year television career, he’s reported from some remarkable places — from the aftermath of Japan’s devastating earthquake and tsunami to wildfires in Florida, the Serengeti in Africa, and the streets of Minneapolis during the George Floyd protests and riots. Along the way, Chris has flown with the Blue Angels, traveled with U.S. military forces after 9/11, ridden out a hurricane under a table in a Walmart, and spent the night aboard a Navy destroyer. But his most personal story happened off camera. Chris became a below-the-knee amputee in 2017, an experience that reshaped how he thinks about adversity, identity and what comes next.
